Hello readers, it's that time of the week again already. Firstly can I welcome our new members from the South Coast to their first #sundaymorningwalk from the Midlands, I hope you can understand my Brummie sense of humour. 7.37am as I set the timer on the oven for 1hr 25 min to cook the seasoned joint of beef to perfection, I check the temperature outside, 3 degrees but with a wind chill of - 4 it's on with the big quilted coat, hat and no gloves, im off out of the backdoor for another adventure on my #sundaymorningwalk I know I can't be out for too long as I need to get back to remove the joint from the oven as the gaffer likes her meat a certain way and I'd hate to disappoint her. So with one eye on the clock I head towards the lake, walking the reverse way to my normal route just to mix things up a bit. I head to towards Church Hill centre crossing the bus lane for the first time and on to Church Hill South. Every town has its handful of idiots but why anyone would w...

Hello again readers, it's that time of the week again, so at just before 7.56am I'm off out of the front door on another #sundaymorningwalk. Front door? I hear you say, yes it's not a typo. Slight change of plan, we were expecting to be entertaining the pearly King and Queen of Plaistow this weekend but with the sudden arrival of Felicity on Monday we couldn't wait to see the new arrival so headed down to the (not so) sunshine Coast on Thursday evening, after work yes after work, hardcore 😉. Anyway its a cool 2 degrees as I leave the house but I soon warm up as I march on. I take the wide path between houses that leads to Lottebridge Drove. The cut to my right seems well maintained and a few moorhens glide past. A cyclist tinkles her bell warning of her passing from my rear, I hold my hand up in acknowledgement and say good morning as she flies past. A couple of bright lycra cladded joggers/stumblers approach slowly, I greet them with a good morning, alrig...

Hello again readers, it's that time of the week again, so with a nice bit of beef prepared and placed in the oven, dishwasher full from last nights meal with Gavlar and Jayne and switched on, cup of tea and headache tablets delivered to the hungover gaffer upstairs and with the clock ticking over to 8.05am I'm off out the gate on another #sundaymorningwalk. It's quite mild out again today 9 degrees according to my phone but a slight breeze knocks a couple of degrees off that. I'm sure we will pay for all this mild weather soon.  The first bit of wildlife I see is a little white tiger staring at me I stare back a while before continuing through the woods. The babbling Brook struggling to babble after the lack of rain recently is a sorrowful sight.  A juvenile sparrow patiently waits whilst I capture his image.  I here rustling to my left just after the underpass and I spy a rabbit,  luckily for me it doesn't know I'...

Hello again readers, it's that time of the week again.  So with a nice gammon joint prepared and placed in the slow cooker covered in coke, a quartered onion and 2 star anise at 8.20am I'm off out the back door off on another #sundaymorningwalk. It's so hard to drag oneself out of bed during the winter months, roll on spring and the lighter warmer mornings.  A chilly 4 degrees with just a t shirt on under my huge feather puffa jacket, a hat which I'll remove later and no gloves, hard-core 😊 My mission today is not the usual Tits, Robins (although I did find a couple of posers) doggers or joggers, I'm looking for a shopping trolley. As you may know Eastbourne is the capital of the abandoned shopping trolley, every walk I take I find one when on location on the Sunshine Coast (I'm sure Briony Fowler plants them for me to find, like an adult Easter egg hunt but with trollies) so I thought I'd try and photograph one up here in Worcestershire. I mak...

Hello readers, it's that time of the week again, a very mild 7 degrees but damp and murky overhead, no meat to prepare today as we're meeting me dad and sister for lunch. With the click ticking over to a rather late 8:42am I'm off out the back door on another #sundaymorningwalk. Christmas lights on houses left on overnight or switched on early light my way through the woods. So nice of the council to clear the leaves off the path, just wish they'd do something about the huge puddle that appears eveytme it rains, it wrecks my nice shoes when we walk to the village for a nice drink.😔 The babbling brook is a raging white water torrent after all the rain recently, I'm sure I saw a canoeist fly past.  Up Beoley Lane I pound, a pair gulls squawking overhead, there will be more than two waking me up in a few days.😩 Over the brow of the hill I spot a pair of doggers making their way up the hill, as we get closer its non other than Johnny Hodges and...

Hello readers, it's that time of the week again when I make a piss poor excuse for not entertaining you all with a walk.... Well not today!! Im back😁. I choose a big coat and hat as its been quite chilly of late, with the clock ticking over to 8.34am, a joint of beef prepared and in the oven and with the temperature a mild 5 degrees centigrade I'm out the back door and off on another #sundaymorningwalk. It's not that cold to be fair, a lovely blue sky and the sun coming up over the cow shed, remnants of an overnight frost still on the grass and path as I make my way to the woods. A squirrel runs across my path and I immediately started to hum the theme to Mission Impossible, I bet you do that everytime you see one too.  A few cars pass as I make my onto the main road, I look up and there is not one vapour trail or plane to be seen, disappointing to say the least. The amount of rubbish in the bushes near Mcdoonalds is disgusting I bet its the same near to your ...

Hello readers, it's that time of the week again, with the clock ticking over to 7.45am (no early early mornings as its still dark), long trousers and Ping showerproof jacket on I'm off out the back door on another #sundaymorningwalk It's a very damp morning in North Worcestershire, the temperature is 7 degrees but feels warmer under the low cloud.I make my way through the woods, the pathway covered with a blanket of fallen leaves.  The leaves that remain in the trees are wonderful colours of red, orange and yellow.  A pair of blackbirds looking breakfast stare at me for a second before flying off.  The babbling brook flowing again after the rains of the past few days. I make my way towards Beoley and up the hill past the memorial to our fallen heroes outside St Leonards Church, I pause for a moment silently thanking them for their sacrifice. A flock of sheeps in the meadow stare at me as I creep closer to take a photo, they...

Hello readers, it's that time of the week again this time out on location in the capital city of the abandoned shopping trollies Eastbourne. With the clock ticking over to 7.20am a cup of tea delivered to the gaffer, knees strapped up and running shoes on the temperature a balmy 9 degrees I'm off out the door on another #sundaymorningwalk slash run. I'm into week 8 of my couchto5k journey Laura in my ear instructs me to begin with a brisk 5 min warm up walk before embarking on a 28 min run. The route I've chosen is the cuckoo trail behind our guest house, it's relatively flat compared to my run back home but quite boring as I have to turn at Lottebridge Drive and retrace my steps it turns out 4 times. I really must improve my dietary habits the evening before a run as I don't think beer, a half bottle of house red and a 3 course Italian in Prezzo followed by a birthday glass of Moet (Gaffer's birthday yesterday) back at The Don's mansion is i...

Hello reader's, its that time of the week again. With a leg of lamb prepared and placed in the slow cooker, a large chicken prepared and placed in our new cooker.  With the temperature a mild 8 degrees and the clock ticking over 7.48am and with a belly full of Guiness I'm out the gate and off on another #sundaymorningwalk /run.  You may be wondering why 2 roasts today, well we are honoured to finally have the presence of Lord and Lady Fowler of Kinfauns residing over night and her ladyship isn't to keen on chicken hmmph. Anyway I digress, back to walk, there is a lot of low musty cloud as I make my way to the lake on week 6 of my couch to 5k journey, beautiful blue sky is hiding above the transparent clouds and another beautiful sunny autumnal day in North Worcestershire is forecast. Autumn is definitely here with the glorious reds and oranges of the leaves on the trees and those falling to the ground, squirrels busy hiding their stashes in preparation of the Arctic blast...

7th October 2018

Hello readers, it's that time of the week again, so with the bed stripped and in the washing machine, all the bodies from last nights wild party woken and kicked out (gaffer is in Eastbourne) and with the clear overnight skies plunging the temperature to a chilly 2 degrees with the clock showing 8.20am I'm off out the backdoor on another #sundaymorningwalk /run. Lovely clear blue skies overhead broken only by the vapour trails of the jet planes flying high above. A light frost on the parked cars, and my breath appearing as I exhale, I make my way through the woods and start to jog. Im attempting the couch to 5k and I'm on week 4, so I thought I'd combine the Sunday walk with the run breaking from tradition but I hope you don't mind.  The babbling brook has run dry again, so much for my prediction the other week that it would be flowing for the next few months. Running down Ravensbank drive past my place of work towards the golden arches of mackie D's I pass a pa...

Hello readers, a little later (well a lot later to be honest) than usual due to our weekend away and not one to disappoint, here is todays offering.  After a full English with cereal and toast before and after, copious amounts of coffee and with the clock ticking over to 9.51am we're off on another #sundaymorningwalk on a Saturday. Did you spot it? I said we're, yes the enemy is with me today! I've briefed her on the etiquette if we meet any doggers and I've told her not to moan that she's aching if can't take anymore hopefully she won't embarrass me! We leave the comfort of the lovely Lyn Valley Guest house in Lynmouth which has a far comfier bed than our guest house in Goa and cross the road to walk next to the river on our way to the Cliff railway.  Not a cloud in the sky but still a nip in the air even at this time of the morning but we...

Hello readers, it's that time of the week again (doesn't it come round quickly) it's on with the red (not pink), shorts and light hoody with the clock ticking over to 6.53am and a cool 9 degrees I'm out the backdoor off on another #sundaymorningwalk Very murky, dark and damp today, so much so the security light pops into action as I pass and walk out of the gate.  Light rain in the air but I should be OK. The song in my head today is 'Eye of the Tiger' by Survivor as AJ and myself both triumphed yesterday, I think he won a lot more than I did though as all I got was an out of focus photo on Facebook😁. Some early morning tits braving the drizzle along with a trio of blackbirds and a pair of collared doves dart in and out as I make my way to the bus lane heading towards the Winyates way to the lake. A cyclist nearly knocks me over, get on the road dear and please ding your bell to warn of your approach, not a happy start. But I soon cheer up as I spot a dogger o...
