30th September 2018
Hello readers, a little later (well a lot later to be honest) than usual due to our weekend away and not one to disappoint, here is todays offering.
After a full English with cereal and toast before and after, copious amounts of coffee and with the clock ticking over to 9.51am we're off on another #sundaymorningwalk on a Saturday.
Did you spot it? I said we're, yes the enemy is with me today!
I've briefed her on the etiquette if we meet any doggers and I've told her not to moan that she's aching if can't take anymore hopefully she won't embarrass me!
We leave the comfort of the lovely Lyn Valley Guest house in Lynmouth which has a far comfier bed than our guest house in Goa and cross the road to walk next to the river on our way to the Cliff railway.
Not a cloud in the sky but still a nip in the air even at this time of the morning but we're nicely wrapped up as we walk hand in hand wishing Good Morning to all that pass.
It's just a short walk to the railway up the cliffs which is an amazing feat of engineering, opened in 1890 built entirely using manual labour take us 500ft to the top and to Lynmouths sister village of Lynton.
We are heading to the coast path which will take us to the Valley of the Rocks.
We pass a couple of elderly doggers on the path, greeting them with a good morning as we edge past them trying not to get too close to the edge of the cliff and certain death should one of us fall.
The photos do not do this area justice it is just truly wonderful.
We pass some goats defying gravity on the cliff slopes in search of food.
Welsh Wales in the distance across the Bristol Channel listen carefully you can hear all the sheeps baaaaaing.
Making our way back towards Lynton and a cream tea and coffee, the OH has a little moan walking up a steep incline so I place my hands on her neck, sorry back and push her up the tree lined pathway, a wooden sign tells we are on the right path but the gaffer sighs when she reads its still 1/4 mile away.
We pass a lovely little babbling brook which passes beneath us as we share a romantic moment, but it soon passes as the thought of the cream tea flashes through her mind.
10 mins later and her legs a little weary we take our seats in the sunshine outside a lovely little cafe and order food and drinks. We stay for a while watching the world go by before marching onward and back down the steep path to the Village Inn in Lynmouth for a little alcoholic beverage.
It's been a good 3 hour session and approx 5 mile walk with only a bit of moaning from my beloved (she made up for it today 😁😁).
A little different from my usual Sunday waffle but I hope you enjoyed it anyway.
Next week I'll be back to normal on Sunday. Hope you've all had a great day and are looking forward to going back to work tomorrow.
Until next week's friends
Ta-ra for a bit and I hope you looked after you OH today even though I wasn't there to remind you this morning 😊
